Franklin Institute receives one of its largest gift.

Cummings Family Foundation donates $12.5 million to the school. The unrestricted gift from real estate magnate Bill Cummings and his wife Joyce almost equals the school’s annual budget and prompts the school to change its name to the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology.
